    Aug. 1-31: Bruce Trail Hike-a-thon

    The Toronto Bruce Trail Club invites you to participate in the first-ever Bruce Trail Hike-a-thon during the month of August.


    Registration opens: June 1, 2014

    Kick-off event: Aug. 2, 2014


    This month-long fundraising event supports the Bruce Trail Conservancy 50th Anniversary Milestones Project. Participants set a personal hiking goal, collect donations, and then hike the Bruce Trail throughout the month of August.

    Aug. 9: Tree Identification Tour

    Join LEAF arborist Brenna Anstett for an exploration of the Don Valley Brickworks site. Learn to recognize not only leaves, but bark, twigs, buds, needles, and cones, to help you identify local native trees.

    Aug. 13: Biodiversity in Rouge Park Tree Tour

    Join LEAF for this tour through Rouge Park, on its way to becoming Canada’s first urban national park! Using the backdrop of the trees along the trail, we will discuss forest issues such as biodiversity, invasive species, climate change, pests and other pressures, as well as the benefits of forests and how we can help increase the urban canopy.
